Through Design.

DESIGNING EMOTION, FORECASTING CHANGE
We forecast change. We envision an improved tomorrow—and we build brands that connect on a human level, rich with emotion.
With offices in Vancouver and Sun Peaks, Canada, Arithmetic Creative is a luxury branding and packaging design studio working across Vancouver, Italy, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
Founded in 2005, the studio continues to evolve at the intersection of design, culture, and commerce.
With over 40 years of combined experience creating graphic and packaging solutions across fashion, food, beverage, beauty, wellness, and architecture, we bring a refined understanding of trend forecasting, material innovation, and brand timing—innately knowing what certain demographics are attracted to and when. From Canada to Europe and the United States, we translate cultural awareness into timeless visual expression.
HUMAN-CENTRED BRAND CREATION
We create connective, inclusive, luxury branding and packaging that unites aesthetics and emotion.
By immersing ourselves in the creation of each brand’s unique and ownable story, we design experiences that build emotional connection between brands and consumers. This process defines or redefines a brand’s emotional language—aligning consumer desire with authentic, sensory storytelling.
Our work spans brand strategy and research, brand naming, copywriting, logo design, packaging, branded interiors, retail environments, art direction for photoshoots, campaigns, social content, web design, POS systems, and marketing collateral.
Each touchpoint is conceived as a vessel for your brand story, carrying an offering that feels human, intentional, and alive.
THE ARITHMETIC CONNECTION
Over centuries, philosophers and artists have explored the link between art and formula, searching for the hidden symmetry that defines beauty. From the golden ratio to the rule of thirds, harmony and proportion reveal an equation for visual resonance.
At Arithmetic, we apply this same philosophy to brand creation. We translate the formula of balance into the rhythm of your visual identity—shaping systems that feel intuitive, structured, and emotionally charged.
Our arithmetic is the framework for your heightened brand experience.
A method, a measure, a movement towards timeless design.
“metodo tenta lavorasione” extolling the virtue of taking time to make things properly.

HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN FOR GLOBAL BRANDS
Design must first be human. It must be visceral in emotion, yet functional and accessible.
At Arithmetic Creative, we create from empathy and intuition—crafting design systems that invite connection. We are redefining modern luxury: an experience that is inclusive, conscious, and grounded in wellness.
From Vancouver to Milan, and New York to Paris, our work brings together strategy, artistry, and cultural awareness to shape brands that feel alive—brands that resonate across beauty, wellness, fashion, gourmet food, beverage, and architecture.
DESIGN AS A VOICE FOR CHANGE
Design is the voice for change.
A voice for Asian lives, Black lives, Indigenous lives, LGBTQIA2S+ lives, for the Earth, for health, and for collective transformation through individual action.
We recognize our inherent biases through listening, learning, and tangible support. We have provided $28,865.84 in pro bono services in support of women- and BIPOC-owned businesses.
Our in-house team and creative partners are united by social and environmental values and independent in thought. Each project is a collaboration of many perspectives—woven together to build brands that reflect the world we want to live in.
FEMALE-LED. INTIMATE BY DESIGN.
We are female-founded, female-led, and female-powered—the longest-running, award-winning, Canadian-owned design studio where the leadership team remains intimately involved in every project.
For over 20 years, our founders have been both designers and strategists, directly engaged from concept to completion—formulating brand strategy, leading creative direction, and co-creating with our design team.
This is our philosophy: that great design cannot happen without presence, listening, and compassion.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN INNOVATION — VANCOUVER, TORONTO, NEW YORK, LONDON, MILAN, PARIS
Our sustainability practice begins by aligning ourselves with nature’s wisdom.
We approach climate impact by designing disruptive methods—methods that dismantle perceptions of what is ‘living’ and what is ‘artificial.’
As an award-winning industry leader in sustainable packaging, with over 25 years of international material and manufacturing sourcing, and a vetted roster of trusted suppliers across Italy, France, Asia, Canada, and the United States, we bring deep technical insight to the beauty, cosmetics, gourmet food, wellness, bodycare, and architecture industries. This breadth of experience allows us to merge luxury craftsmanship with advanced sustainable innovation, shaping materials and processes that embody both artistry and environmental integrity.
We unify natural sources with technology, working with circular, recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable materials, and bioplastics packaging that meet the highest sustainability standards without compromising elegance or sensory appeal for our clients in Vancouver, Toronto, New York, California, London, Milan, Rome, and Paris.
We co-create a world where nature and humans collaborate in creative synergy, respecting ecological balance while transforming industry waste streams—including plant fibers, food waste, and post-consumer materials—into refined, regenerative design solutions through creativity and innovation.
Nature is our unifier, heal our habitat and we will heal ourselves.
We approach climate impact by designing disruptive methods. We dismantle perceptions of what is ‘living’ and ‘artificial’, unifying natural sources with advanced technological innovation.
We co-create a future where nature and humans collaborate, supporting each other in a regenerative ecosystem of life. We look to industry waste streams for materials made from plant or food waste instead of virgin materials.
We is all of us, working together towards this vision.
Leadership
Margherita Porrà, founder and creative director of arithmetic and award-winning designer, is celebrated for her innate talent in synthesizing the unspoken feeling needs of humans, their behaviours, and the market data into an aesthetic harmony, which resonates and creates change. She is equal parts analytical and creative, thriving in the ambiguity of paradoxes and opposites. Her work is expansive in thought and concept, deep in research and connection—evoking the emotion we crave. Highly discerning, Margherita's work is rich in meaning-making through storytelling—actioning the knowledge that our brains recognize and celebrating memorable stories—the most memorable ones being authentic.
She is a driving thought leader in the human-centric branding process where human and soul-based needs come first (where people are not abstracted to simply “consumer” and relegated to data points), connecting human feelings to the outward expression of a brand, stripping away the clutter of marketing jargon to create an offering which is rich in honesty and emotion. It is her belief that once we can connect as humans, we have a chance to engage each others' help in healing our Earth. Margherita has spent her design career deeply aware of dwindling resources, feeling it in her bones and in a panic for change. Margherita leads the arithmetic team in investing in research for alternative packaging materiality and manufacturing partners, continually asking the uncomfortable questions, and changing personal behaviour to understand what is involved in order to incite change in others. By extension, and in action, Margherita is actively redefining what the luxury category is. In her vision, the New Luxury is sustainable, inclusive, values-led with many independent businesses making quality goods with time and care. It is wellness. It is craft. It is honest. It will have a disregard for the overpriced mass-manufactured and over-marketed category that is unattainable and lacks true authenticity. The New Luxury swaps exclusivity for connection.
Following her formal education in graphic design and international business, graduating with honours, Margherita launched her design career in the intensity of the fashion industry. She brought her artistic vision to life through the design of hundreds of products from shoes to textile design to homewares sold worldwide for both leading Canadian and American fashion brands; all the while, honing a keen production sensibility while working hands-on with skilled artisans. With extensive design experience in consumer goods categories, Margherita has worked on everything from brand vision and strategy, identity, packaging, retail interior, and product design. She has over 20 years of industry experience designing for retail-focused product producers, with a focus on health, food, wellness, and fashion, in the luxury market. Inspired by her own health issues, her personal passion for healing through a plant-based diet, paired with her refined taste, has fuelled her work in the health, food, and wellness categories with great success in breaking convention in stale markets.
Over the past 21 years, Margherita has received numerous design awards, including 38 awards in the past 9 years. She is the recipient of 9 Pentawards, an inaugural Dieline Sustainability Award, the AACE Award, and the award for Canadian Design Exchange Emerging Graphic Designer of the Year. Her design work has been published countless times in The Dieline, Taschen’s The Package Design Book, Victionary, Applied Arts Magazine, IDN Magazine, Wallpaper Magazine, and Pattern-Base Book, to name a few.
A systems-driven communicator and interdisciplinary problem solver devoted to cultivating connection and clarity. Skilled at swiftly translating vision into actionable strategy, she approaches design as a powerful medium for uniting people, ideas, and experiences across time and space.
Grounded in an innate relationship with nature—shaped by prairie roots and a lifelong engagement with traditional craft—Brooke draws inspiration from the intelligence and harmony found in natural systems. This sensibility informs her approach to creative leadership, where she seeks solutions that are both innovative and attuned to the human and ecological contexts they serve.
Brooke’s career is anchored in deep, hands-on experience. From her early days immersed in the worlds of museums and galleries to spending significant time in the trenches of small business startups, she has built a rare fluency in the realities of scalable growth, brand-building, and organizational resilience. Her work has spanned Fine Art, Craft, and Design, equipping her with an intuitive ability to synthesize disparate ideas, anticipate trends, and shape compelling visual narratives.
As a trusted partner to boutique businesses and creative ventures, Brooke is known for her ability to bring structure to ambition. She excels at aligning brand vision with systematic execution, fostering environments where ideas can flourish and connections can deepen. Her approach balances strategic thinking with aesthetic rigor, always oriented toward meaningful and resonant outcomes.
Brooke holds a Bachelor of Design with distinction from Alberta University of the Arts, alongside formative studies at Falmouth Arts University in the United Kingdom. Her professional journey reflects a commitment to continuous learning, perspective-building, and communicating with purpose and precision.
