Fully custom dielines, Obakki’s modular boxes package the full spectrum of luxury skincare and bath products.

Obakki partners with global artisans whose products are made in small batches and developed from a foundation of sustainability and economic development. The warm materiality of the millboard packaging was selected to reflect the artisanal, hand-made quality of the products within. Millboard is a by-product of paper production, making use of a material that would otherwise become waste. Inspired by the integrity of traditional rigid box structure, we stripped away the standard printed wrapped paper coating to expose and feature the simplicity and integrity of millboard itself as a front-facing, subversive material. Strong, subtle, human in touch, and honest in appearance—millboard has a humble beauty.

In designing this program, we eliminated the conventional overuse of plastic, foam inserts, and tape, creating millboard inserts instead. The inserts inside each box display the products on a platform, creating an elevated unboxing experience. The box bears a deep blind deboss and a singular ink imprint. The boxes can be reused or recycled.

Colourless flint glass vessels and unprinted aluminum tubes were chosen for their high recyclability.

Embossed insert cards created with a rich, tactile card stock are tucked inside each box and showcase key product information.
